Hi Guys

Has anyone ever received an error msg like this before when trying to load a game.... bought a game for my son and keep getting this msg when we try to load the game ...

Now he is so disappointed ... game is called Mashed. My system is way beyond the minimum spec'd and I have downloaded the latest codecs for XP.

Any suggestions would be welcome....

the game specs specify which windows as best to run it? windows 95/98/ME?

you might need to make the game run using compatability mode to emulate a previous version of windows.

I have Mashed on my PC. The game opens with Active movie window and then as the movie ends it drops out with "Mashed.exe has caused a problem and needs to close" or "Could not run the DirectShow graph! hr=0x887601c2". How can I resolve this issue?



To resolve this issue you will need to install Active Movie codecs that are not installed on your computer. These can be downloaded from the link below:

Game specs say that it can run on XP ... so I doubt if compatibility mode will help .... never the less , we will try that ....

You know what the cool thing is ......? I am so grateful that we are having this trouble with the game cos it has really brought us togehter in trying to get it to work .... :) :)

Any other suggestions.
 
try to rename/remove the folder where the video clips/files are that the game tries to play... it worked when i had a similar issue with Call of Cthulhu.

the game just skips the video sequences and thus avoids the codec error.
 
Tried suggested actions and no success. Installed it on my work PC (running Win2000) and works like a bomb.
 
mmm... and trying to run game on XP with Windows 2000 emulation doesnt work either? weird... well, at least you got it running on an older OS. ;)
 
Must be missing soem old codecs that are present on my older work PC ... given up ...
