This is bad news. The park is not a holiday resort, you do not go there to be entertained. You go there for peace. You go there to listen to the animals roar in the night time. To be in bed at 9 and wake up early to have a rusk and coffee at a view point.
Mr Tokio is showing his true colours.

There is hardly any development on the Mozambique side. Take your plans and develop that.
As a regular visitor. The park is to full over peak times. Allowing 700 more people will just be bad for an over full park.
You al ready have issues with alcohol, unruly customers.

A national park is not a DisneyLand. It's a conservation area.

This makes me sad. I was defending keeping this land in the governments custody. Just because I thought it safe from developers. But is seems there is no shame or limit to the rot of the ANC. The will destroy everything.

I read it somewhere, but have no real comment on the whole situation, but the hotel will be bringing in a fair bit of money for the Kruger.
 
The South of the park has long been the preserve of the open-topped Safari-bakkie and their moron drivers. Skukuza is a town, not a rest camp, and has been so for years. Anything south of say halfway between Satara and Tshokwane is no longer Kruger.

The south is over developed already. Why not build it outside the park or in Mozambique where development is needed?

They will not make more money as they will loose the people that goes to the park for the peace and quiet. Over Easter you get stuck in traffic jams in the south. 700 more beds?

This is a new cash cow the pigs want to rape.

If the Kruger needed more money they could have used 100 million that went for a flopped party.

I try to keep out of politics these days , but this makes me so angry I could do things I could get locked up for just mentioning it :o

Yeah I agree with you. Thing is, the Moz side has no roads to speak of - 100 cars more would flood the roads.
 
They just want it because they do not have to pay for the prime property!!

:mad: sorry :o this just pisses me off so badly. :o

Surely to make the trans frontier park work they should rather invest in the roads and infrastructure to conserve on that side.
They should tell mr Tokio and his ill obtained wealth to go buy land if he wants an hotel so badly.
 
Hey, why the negative outlook? Let's be positive. At least the park won't run out of monkeys now :D Of course the logic is to develop the Mozambique side but is much easier to take what others build then build new things. WTF - welcome to SA 2012
 
I don't even know from one day to the next if it's worth the effort to get excited over this type of **** any longer. Swings and roundabouts I suppose - the new cross-border park across Namibia, Angola, Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe is at least a heartening development.

I suppose one should perhaps be thankful for the lack of infrastructure on the Mozambican side - at least the animals should be undisturbed for the most part.
 
I love Lower Sabie but in the past few years during the school holidays or over a long weekend it and the tar roads between it and Tshokwane can become very hectic. IMO there are too many cars in the southern part of the park. This resort is just going to ruin the southern part of the park.

Yes, it will bring more money into the park but at what expense to the conservation of wildlife. Sadly, and this is of my own thinking but Kruger National Park is not really about conservation of wildlife anymore, it's about making money and having party time.
 
I've actually never been to the Kruger.
It'd be a shame to eventually go and find an overpopulated (by humans) place.

Should really go back to the Addo and explore some more - darn lions were hiding! :(

So, you are fighting the idea of people visiting the kruger park, but yet, it's okay when you yourself are a regular visitor?

The kruger park is huge..... storm in a teacup as the man said.
The Pilanesberg National Park has the Sun City Resort, casino and golf course, which is a LOT bigger than a hotel or two in the kruger.

IMO more people will get to experience africa... that's right, people JUST LIKE YOU.
More people also means more money for the park.

That's all rather ignorant. Any recent visitor to the south of the Kruger will tell you that it is already completely over-commercialised and over-developed. Anyone who thinks that the main aim here is conservation is deluded; the focus has shifted to self-enrichment at whatever cost and that's sad no matter how you cut it.

Pilansberg is a glorified zoo & not in the least comparable to Kruger.

Interesting that our cross boarder park was to include zim... Bob then decided the did not want our TB lions:D
( that was not the official statement but my brother was still a ranger in the park at that point) he decided this the day the boarder was suppose to open...4 hours late he decided to say no.

That sounds like an awsome park. I just hope they make it acceptable forafricans( all of us) we want to travel to Namibia and Botswana but it became quite an expensive trip. Very much targeted for tourists with dollars. But it's on the list. Saving up to go. :
 
Pleeease, the intersection just below Lower Sabie Camp/Resort, it badly needs a robot of some sort. During the December holidays I might just as well have been in a M1 traffic jam. Took us 1 and a half hours the negotiate the intersection. And no, not because of the (wild) animals.

There are no (or very few) animals in the Mozambican site. I have been there 2x by car and 1x by low flying aircraft. Poaching is a HUGE problem - sadly.

I was there in December. It was literally a ghost town.
