Moving to new ISP. Whats the best offer now?

I'm currently on telkom 386 line, with telkom isp 5 gig + 10 gig local, for R 219 and adsl line for R152 per month. I need more bw, so I started searching. I saw axxess have a special now, but appart from that, I see they offer 5 gig for R95 per month. Then top ups is R19 per gig, which is good. I also saw if I move my telkom line to them, they will charge R139 per month, which is also better than telkom.

Is there a catch, or is it just a good offer? I dl torrents, mikita, csi's and ncis, so its not heavy downloading, but 5 gig is still not enough.

Or are there better offerings, for not more than R219 plus R152 p/m?

Why not just go telkom uncapped?
 
Why are you still on a capped service? Move to uncapped its abot the same price and you can pull 60g on a 384 line
 
Okay whats the best uncapped service then? I see bekdik say mweb, but I've sen many bad threads here about mweb. And I dont want problems with torrents downloading.
 
Just checked out mweb's offer, and it looks good. where I pay telkom now R371 now for 5 gig int and 10 local and line, they charge R349 all incl for uncapped.

Now, is it good for torrents?
 
And I dont see that I need to sign a contract, or must I? Or am I bound for a specific time? And I also see you get a free modem with uncapped. Is it true?
 
No uncapped service will be "good" for torrents, but you'll certainly be able to download a lot more per month than a competing capped service, it will just be a little slower.

On a 384 line, expect ~20kbps on average, up to full speed at night.

Dont think it will bother me, I browse only a few minutes in the evenings, and then set up the torrents to dl overnight. As said, I'm not a heavy downloader, so it wont bother me to wait a bit.

Must tell you I couldn't understand why you said stick with telkom, when I pay R219 for 5 gigs now. Just checked, doUncapped is also R219 /month! How the hell can they do that, One plan for R219 with 5 gig, and another plan with uncapped for the same amount?

It doesn't make sense.
 
International is throttled during the day on telkom uncapped.
 
Just pick any ISP, you are still going to get throttled at any ISP in SA, as well as probably lose speed due to old copper cabling.

Pick which ever is more affordable to you.

The standard price of the 5GB (+10 local) TI account is R99.

As far as I can tell, the only product priced at R219 (besides Uncapped 384) is the Do Basic bundle, and the R219 includes the ADSL line rental (that is R152 separately) and a TI 5 GB account with 10GB local (which is normally R99), the bundle saves you R32. Total cost of this package (including POTS line rental of just under R140) is R358.97pm.

Total cost here would be R95+R152+R140 = R387

No, The Do Basic bundle is about R30 cheaper (unless I am missing something).

If volume is more important to you than daytime international latency, Do Uncapped 384 would probably suit you better. Note that this is not actually a 'Do Bundle', so total price I think would be R140+R152+R219 = R511, or R124 more than you are (or should be) paying currently.
