Petrol price going up again ! this time 61c !!!

How the hell are we going to cope with all the these increases, my salary just cant keep up anymore :(
petrol price going up 61c next week, then we still have to worry about the toll fees ... when is it going to stop ?

pretty soon its gonna be too expensive to travel to work ! :cry:

Is this including or excluding the new tax hike of 28c iirc?
 
I also read the article, didn't they say it will increase with as much as 61c? I wonder how much it will actually be?

Either way, the 20 odd cents tax increase part of this is NEVER going down again :cry:
 
Motorists in Gauteng face a possible increase in the petrol price next month of 61c a litre or more.

The projected hike will be due to a 28c a litre rise in fuel levies announced in the Budget; a 22 percent increase in Transnet’s pipeline tariff, which will add an estimated 4c a litre; and a monthly adjustment to bring the domestic price of petrol in line with prices of a basket of international fuel products.

The average daily underrecovery was running at 29c a litre last week. Based on this figure, the combined increases would push the cost of 95 octane in Gauteng to R11.84 a litre.

OMG i just read the article again and its says 61c or MORE ! more ? :(
 
Is the 28c/litre applicable to petrol only or affects the prices of diesel and parafin too?
 
Thankfully for me (at least initially) I have 2 weeks off in April so that will cushion the blow somewhat... but fark me, I'm gonna have to start working from home or I won't be able to survive.
 
telecommuting will become a reality in SA if this continues. or a viable option at least. getting ridiculous now. or i need to go work for a nice petro company for nice bonuses..
 
Since a few eeks ago I started cycling to work, its only 10km (20 a day) and at the end of the week I save at least 100km of fuel.

This actually got me thinking, if we start using less fuel then the government will not get the desired effect from the added tax on fuel. Won't that make them increase it even more, and so the process continues?
