Article: ANC furious about Zille's refugee comment

The ANC on Wednesday bemoaned opposition leader Helen Zille's comment in which she referred to Eastern Cape pupils who flocked to the Western Cape for a better education as refugees.

"The ANC is vindicated by the statement made by Helen Zille," said African National Congress spokesman Jackson Mthembu.
 
Vindicated? Maybe if he had a better education he would have chosen the correct word.

In fact... his comments vindicate what Zille said! :D

And then Mthembu claims the DA led province is excluding blacks? By embracing them and building them schools? Does Mthembu know what "exclusion" even means?

Love how Mthembu (Fail!) tries to put a racist spin on the whole thing when the only one to mention race is himself:

"This is typical of the erstwhile apartheid government's mentality that resorted to influx control measures to restrict black people from the so-called white areas."

"Zille's racist statement underpins the DA's policy of exclusionism of blacks," said Mthembu.

"She will never say the same thing about whites who relocate from one area of the country to the Western Cape or even those who relocate from other countries to the Western Cape.

Zille never mentioned race at all. I know 3 white pupils studying in the WC purely because the schools in their immediate area are not able to provide the level of education they require / deserve. They are refugees from the EC too!

I'm guessing no, since he doesn't know what "vindicated" means either.
 
let's be honest at once and not put our political influence in our comments ....Zille statement was wrong simply I wouldn't like to be called a refugee when I go to Limpopo to find work or when I go to study at Wits in Gauteng......

come on ppl Zille's statement was not matured like all of Malema's comments he ever made

So, moving from one place to another in order to avoid horrendous conditions doesn't make you a refugee? I think it does hey. Anyway, it's also figurative. A golf widow isn't really a widow. Just like Julius was speaking figuratively when he would kill for zuma...

She is referring to those living in informal settlements, squatters... Yes those are refugees.
