So this is equivalent to a business uncapped, except for the time limits. Is their a consumer/home after-hours 4mbps uncapped product as well? I'd be interested in something of that nature, for a half/third of the normal R500-ish price, limited to say 1mbps/512kbps during office hours.

I would be curious to know what they consider office hours. Not that I will be getting this. It's an awesome product, I'm sure, but I can't justify the price compared to Openweb Gold plus which performs fine as is.

My MWEB speeds have been phenominal at night on normal uncapped. Know of a few people now who have switched to Mweb and never looked back! Good to see it happen considering I used to cringe at the monthly MWEB charges for 3GB a few years back! (R299 for 3GB).
+1. Very amazing how they transformed from that "Mom and Pop" ripoff ISP to the market leaders they are now
By far the better service.. at least for the price!The 10Mbps version of this is incredible, but the 192k speed during the day is unusable. Pages just dont load. It can be annoying for those days when your at home during the week or if you get home at 5pm and have to wait 2 hours before you can check your mail.

@Openweb--what we are all looking for is simple: take the all hours uncapped package and divide it by half. So uncapped 4MB data only is now around R500 or so (shapped)--give me for R250/month uncapped shaped but from 6pm to 6am. Then we have a deal.
What you are selling now is for heavy downloaders (24/7) and professionals like us (who work away from home during day) do not need this--it is an overall.

Agree 100% with this - an after hours uncapped shaped product would be great.
I have 1MB uncapped but I only download between 12 and 6. My usage the rest of the time adds up to 5Gb or so.
I think there's a real gap in the market for a product that's 10MB capped/unshaped during the day and 4Mb uncapped/shaped after hours.
Or 1Mb unshaped with a 5Gb cap in the day but uncapped/shaped after hours.
Who else would consider buying a product like this?

You could do what I do: Telkom Internet with one of the DoBroadband packages. I pay something like R40 for 9GB of international bandwidth per month, for when the uncapped connection isn't super healthy. I find that I never use it though.
I wouldn't consider this crappy offer for a second. Mweb's shaped uncapped 4MB service gives me line speed for almost all my downloads (I only use http) and browsing is as fast as can be expected. My household has used 275GB so far this month. God I love Mweb.

It's just a 4mb limited version of their 10mb after hours uncapped. Even with my 4mb line I still used their after hours uncapped service, up to 10mb, which costs R899. Works great and you don't have to worry about your speeds being cut or any annoying thresholds.
They're now just offering a cheaper version of the account that is limited to 4mb. If you were using their 10mb uncapped account before this it saves you R200 a month. If you're not going to be home during the day, this is a great deal while costing a bit more than standard uncapped accounts.
That said I currently use their Uncapped Gold 4MB account, downloading most of the time, and in the day I get very low speeds, but from around 5PM to 8AM I usually get full line speed, around 500KB/s.
I might move to their new after hours uncapped product next month, it's about R40 less than I currently pay for the Gold uncapped. I still need to think if it's worth it to change or not.
I've tried Mweb and WebAfrica. I was happy with Mweb until I started getting abuse emails. WebAfrica I wouldn't recommend to anyone who downloads a reasonable amount. As far I was concerned how they describe the product is not accurate.
Anyway, I've downloaded 365 GB this month and I couldn't be happier

It's just the old Uncapped Express offering with updated pricing and name.
Most the (cheaper) uncapped accounts perform like unshaped accounts after hours these days. Nothing to see here, folks....

Give it to Openweb, they are trying out various price/product combinations to try figure out what we want, I applaud them for providing more choice. I am pretty happy on my MWEB for now, but I like the idea of tailored products for niche markets. I still think it would be great if you could use a simple slide system to pick you peak and off-peak periods and set a speed/cap limit for each and pricing working accordingly. Then you could play around and find the best combo for your needs.
