I think I'd like a tablet, but really don't want to pay that much for Ipad, so I noticed that Incredible Connection have the Acer Iconia A500 32GB (non 3G) tablet going for R2999.

Is this tablet any good ? From what I could find it seems good enough and Acer have announced that it will also release an update to ICS for it.

Why do you want a tablet without 3g if i may ask? When i was researching tablets before buying my vodafone one i checked out this one and the weight was a bit much hey.

The price is good though and if you don't need internet on it, it should be a decent purchase.

At the moment price is my main consideration, but I also don't want to buy crap. I'll mostly use it at home where I have a wireless network and 10Mbps ADSL. If I really need mobility I guess I should be able to link it up via my cellphone ? Either tethering, or using a personal wifi hotspot app on my phone or a small wifi/3g router - not very elegant I know, but the 3G model is over 2 grand more.

I have one, no real complaints other than it is a bit heavier than an Ipad and the camera is not that great. For what I use it for it is perfect. Email, browsing, some gaming and watching youtube.

Why would you not have Internet just because no 3G?
Wifi at home/work and tether with cell if required anywhere else.

Got one on Thursday and I think it's brilliant for the price. Quite happy so far. Yes, it doesn't have 3g, but I've got wifi at home and work. Couldn,t care less about the camera :)
