Is the Internet Africa’s salvation?

A possible remedy, on top of a massive IT user education rollout, would be to encourage competition in order to depress consumer ICT prices, increase the use of ICT and enhance ICT-led growth. Another remedy would be to increase consumer confidence in online business by enhancing the institutional framework.

There is an urgent need to help LCDs use ICT to enhance their competitiveness. Strategies are needed to ease the transition of developing countries to an information economy to embrace a broad range of social and economic manifestations, including the Internet and e-business.

Just lower the price (how many times do we have to say it) - for the good of the people. Developing countries are no place for rapacious blood sucking companies - like telkom, etal.
 
Awareness it would appear is a dangerous thing, and Telkom are doing their best at keeping as many as possible in the dark ages

Unfortunately developing countries are the only place politicians can get away with lining their pockets with the ill gotten gains of these protected companies. Elsewhere their heads would have been on a pike ages ago.
 
I do not think so Sub Saharan Africa can not be salvaged anymore, too many fat cats and company's are too used to defraud African nations and the leaders are too used to the freebies, They do not care anything for the citizen. They are just good manupilators take Zuma as prime example whats to come!
