Biko cited a failed bid from late 2000 to get as many whites as possible to sign up to a statement symbolically acknowledging that, whether as active agents of apartheid or not, they had collective responsibility for the evils of the system.

I did not institute it and did not partake in it, had little benefit from it, which I did not ask for it was there. So in essence, we must apologize for being “white” BS, tell me this, how many Blacks/Colourd /Indians etc also “benefited from apartheid” then and now. How many bulsh1tters are there that say” we fought apartheid, but in fact benefited more than the white man...to them I say come out, let your name be known, you that helped the Sap and the army catch the stinking bomb planting cowards/you that spied on your own. and i think as a white person i am quiet offended being requested to sign something that acknowledges that somehow i was responsible for the evils of apartheid.

thats like asking all germans to sign something saying they were responsible for the holocaust.

I was only born in 1984 and was 10 when apartheid ended. Yep I was Satan himself during those first 10 years, I opressed all.

This kind of thing makes me sick. I had nothing to do with it.

Be carefull if you use words like WIT (White) Black (Swart) Evolution , Pale face , and many others; the race Zealots and kie is up in arms. They are in denial mode now for 12 years, if not 200, and looking at developments will be so for the next twenty at least. Just imagine one of these race Zealots becomes the next president. The action against whites will begin if you ask me! Same as Zim! we are heading there faster than anyone wants to admit seems to me!

I think what people want is for white people to acknowledge that (almost) all white people benefited from apartheid in some form or another (their parents were relatively wealthy at the expense of the majority leading to good schools etc) and thus have a debt to pay back. Instead we have a situation where many (if not most) white people (many people I know included) are still racist and bitch and moan about every sacrifice they have to make to right the situation

acknowledge that SOME white people benefitted from it, mabye.

But to say that all white people should apologise for apartheid is short-sighted, counter-productive and frankly laughable.

But it is not atypical of what the current (IMO racist ) government thinks is the way forward.
