I dunno, I think it adds something to what otherwise would be a pretty boring picture without the use of expensive cameras and editing software.
Sell sell sell!!!!!! I wouldn't go near that facebook ipo.
All these damn companies are having their valuations set against google and apple, but they have proven business models....

Cellphone camera's aren't crappy but Instagram adds a touch of "living" that you would get when taking a photo with film and getting it developed.

AOL shares jumped.
My point is they were crappy and needed all the help they could get. Times have changed and we have much better cameras and apps available.

On both android and iOS only difference is that it doesn't have its own social network but has build in ability to share to others.

Ta, I'll give it a bash. I really think RetroCamera on my Android is much better than instagram although it's a paid for app.
EDIT: Oh! Looks like it isn't, I wonder if that's a recent development?

Pix seems to be more a photo editor than a camera app, there might not be a difference but if I have to select which filters etc AFTER taking the photo it's a photo editor. Camera apps apply the filters etc at the time of taking the photo.
Sorry, but when it comes to Android I wouldn't know what to suggest.
But with instagram you also apply the filter after taking the photo either via the camera or using an image from your photo library.
