Hey Friends

Just a quick note to let you know that we will be relaunching OpenBrowse tomorrow, 25 April 2006.

Due to the relaunch we will need to install new hardware, which might lead to intermittant connectivity, and slow speeds over the next two days.

We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused but feel that this upgrade will take OpenBrowse to the next level.

P.S Current OpenBrowse customers will receive a personalized email from myself containing the link to the new "OpenRouter" software, as well as your new Username and Password.

I thank you for your patience.

Kind regards
MrBEEP

Got the email thanks, will give it a bash tonight

just a few q's :

- We got a few pc's hooked up to openweb via lan, can we install the openrouter software on all pc or does it only allow one logon?

- will this stop the torrent/download abuse on the openproxy, and free up some bandwidth for surfing?

- when will the old openbrowse proxy be disabled?

- What's happening to linux users?

Yeah!

I have been experiencing really slow reponses lately.

If ANYONE has been using it for Torrent downloads, they should be lined up and SHOT!!

One thing I would like to know the answer too though is this question:

- We got a few pc's hooked up to openweb via lan, can we install the openrouter software on all pc or does it only allow one logon?

Hey Friends,

Thank you for your questions regarding the NEW OpenBrowse.

You will be able to install an unlimited amount of OpenRouter instances on the same telephone line. Eg. 1 x ADSL line = Unlimited Instances of the software.

This will effectively stop all p2p / torrent and http downloads.

However, in the future, we plan to allow certain downloads at certain times. This will be provided as a free, added value service to OpenBrowse clients. We currently do not have a date of launch for this yet.

As soon as all clients are up on the new system, and everything is running perfectly, we will switch off the old OpenBrowse servers.

We do have an option for linux users, which will be revealed by request.

Unfortunately, the old OpenBrowse service is now on its knees, as it seems like users who read the no download post, purposefully started downloading massive files. I would like to apologise to users who have not been moved yet, and promise the transition will be complete by latest Thursday.

Kind regards
MrBEEP

What exactly does this mean? What is the line between browsing and downloading? What im getting at is will we still be able to download small files?

Hey Friends,

I will be addressing all these issues asap.

In order to setup MSN Messenger, you HAVE to make sure you have NO other proxy / sock settings entered directly into the application, and that your clicked:

"Configure to use with IE" button, and that the proxy is active.

The OpenRouter program MUST run at all times.

Kind regards
