Iran to cut off Internet by August

Iran has previously blocked country access to the internet. The latest block prevented users from accessing encrypted sites outside of the country that operate on the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol.

Wow, freedom of infomation is really scaring governments these days...

When the government fears the people, there is liberty.
When the people fear the government, there is tyranny.

I predict that without radical change that Iran will look like North Korea in the next 20 years., you cannot cut yourself off from the rest of the world and expect to grow.

This isn't 1850 anymore.

Unfortunately Guy Fawkes can't hack what he can't connect to =/

You forget your history. The original Guy Fawkes didn't need no steenking internet.
He tried to blow up the houses of Parliament with real explosives.
The Mask is a reference to the Movie V for Vendetta, which discusses the public rising up against a repressive state.

+1
Like China.

I can feel a Civil war on it's way in iRan. Cutting off the freedom of information and speech is the quickest way to start a war. NVM just the monitoring of information, without concent.

How will any international company be able to operate then? Emails need international connectivity... It seems a bit absurd, imagine trying to do any international sales there by snail mail only, great way to work on getting your economy off oil dependence...

From your link.... "Since the release in 2006 of the film V for Vendetta, the use of stylised "Guy Fawkes" masks, with moustache and pointed beard, has become widespread internationally among groups protesting against politicians, banks and financial institutions. The masks both conceal the identity of individuals and demonstrate their commitment to a shared cause."

I know what you were referring to... but I was reminding you of the more grass roots origins of the mask.... which is why I posted the mask in the first place.

I would love to see thousands of Iranians show up in the streets in front of their government buildings wearing these masks and ready to take back their government.
