DEALS: LA46D550 46" Samsung FHD LCD TV for only R5999 at Makro

It is, a friend sent me a price from a dealer of his, it's going for R5199 there I was like floored, I paid R2k more
 
Yeah it is, the refresh rate isn't as big an issue as people make it out to be, considering that there are other factors that attribute to judder, motion blur etc... Refresh rate is a nice little marketing gimmick, they never seem to give response times anymore and anything below 16ms is fine for the human eye. I game on this TV with no issues at all, especially setting it to Game mode and the input lag drops.

Still a really good price for a 46", a move to 100Hz (engine) would mean the 46D6000 which has been going for R10K on special.

While there is a perceivable difference in motion performance (if you look for it), unless you've gotten used to 100Hz, 50Hz is fine. I had little issue with my 40C530 (50Hz engine) before I got the 46D6000 (100Hz engine, 200Hz CMR with LED strobing). That said I wouldn't want to go back to 50Hz now that I'm used to 200Hz CMR.

I paid R15,000 more, 3.5 years ago...it just packed up :( Samsung are in the process of sorting me out though.

:( What gave out? Did it just die? Also, how are they sorting you out. store credit or replacement set?

They collecting in Friday - and will then decide - just out of warranty - I'd rather scrap it than pay for repairs though, especially considering what they cost now:

Its doing this intermittently, on all sources, including TV Tuner with nothing plugged in.

Problem is - its intermittent - which makes it difficult proving - I've taken various pictures, but for example, it didn't do it the whole long weekend, I even left the LCD on for most of it. Then last night it started again.

Turning it on and off also seems to fix it (like degaussing old CRT monitors).
