Article: ANC may prevent lawyers attending disciplinary meetings

lol... typical ANC! Let's abandon due process and fair trial... cos they were never really that important anyway.

We've known for a long time exactly what regard Zuma & his merry bandits have for the law, this just confirms it.

Worse is Malema was right, typical dictatorial behaviour :wtf:

What do labour laws say about lawyers at internal disciplinary hearings? Surely they would only come in once it goes to the CCMA/small claims court?

This is actually perfectly acceptable...

Lawyers do not need to be present for disciplinary hearings like this, its a waste of our money.

Correct, but it will depend on the organisation's disciplinary code or code of conduct.

Could a lawyer make excuses for someone not being available for a hearing? I would prefer the 'errant members' get into trouble for themselves.

It's a private organisation. Of course they can determine who gets to attend meetings. Just like you can determine who enters your house or not...what does due process have to do with what they are doing?

100% correct - as long as it is specified as such in their disciplinary Code. Normally external parties can only be brought in once you are at the CCMA stage.
