Why are they digging up our pavements in East London

East London - For the last few weeks our pavements have been dug up and cable/piping laid.

Any idea why
 
Fibre they've been doing it for yonks in PE.
 
Thought is was fibre, but that is not how I have seen fibre laid in the past.

Anyway hopefully we are in for a surprise in the not so distant future
 
I drive down western avenue to work, I thought it was fibre. Not much has happened over the last month so who knows what our esteemed BCM has in the pipeline, tender awarded to a phantom company...again.
 
Someone clearly won a tender!

No one actually knows why the pavements have to be dug up, but theres money in it.
 
Moving overhead Electricity cables underground?
They just did that in our neighbourhood.
