FNB’s digital strategy aims to disrupt industries

When FNB initially started selling Apple’s iPad 2, the bank was delivering close to 20,000 units a month, according to Jordaan. Furthermore, the FNB banking up is seeing upwards of 800 downloads a day, a figure which Jordaan believes will only increase with time.

App not up

How is it deflective of their core services? Do other banks do banking better than they do? I'd say that the reason they're able to offer these value adds is precisely because their banking is up to scratch. SB is only now offering a competing unlimited transaction account, while crickets are chirping over at ABSA and Nedbank. And almost a year later, none of them have been able to respond with a banking app that allows you to bank on the go. The fact is that in order to compete now, not only does your banking need to be up to scratch, but you need to offer additional, tangible, value to your customer.

I wouldn't mind seeing them offering free mobile data :) (for the iPad3)

If other industries weren't so **** - they'd have nothing to worry about.
