Can't re-install Vodafone K3570-z on netbook.

Hi

After uninstalling the VMB software from my netbook (no cd drive) I decided to re-install again but win xp now refuses to load and install the drivers. It recognises the modem but gives error 39 under Device Manager
" DVD/CD-ROM Drives --> Vodafone USB SCSI CD-ROM USB Device".

I have tried to re-install the drivers - no success.

I have downloaded the latest VMB version, installed it but win xp still refuses to download and install the modem drivers.

I think it's a win xp problem - something to do with the netbook not having a cd-drive....

The modem installs and works fine on the other computers.

Please help!

Having modem plugged go to device manager -> options -> devices by connection, expand USB root hub parrent to this device, make print screen of the window <ALT> + <Print Screen>, paste in paint and give us link to the picture.
Now remove CD-ROM device and any other devices (if present), leaving just USB root hub - no childs, unplug modem, wait 90 seconds and replug. How it changes?

The only other devices are the built in card reader and webcam under USB Root Hub. Must I disable or uninstall them?

Where can I post the image for you to see?
 
Probably not. Only CD-ROM device (or composite device), it is why I want to see it. I wonder why two other internal devices are connected to the same root hub. What happen if you change USB port?

Uploading pictures: not sure it works on MyBB. People use other websites and post links.

Other things: do you have autostart disabled? you can execute program (see content of the file autostart.inf on the CD-ROM device and run executable manually).

It looks like a windows problem. I have tried another modem and an external USB DVD player as well. All with the same symptom.

So I will have to dig into the registry since the only way to repair windows on this machine is via external USB drive which I can't use.

Can you help me with this?
 
In your device manager - Where you have the yellow exclamation marks..... Have you tried right clicking - select properties...go to driver tab & select "update driver" - select the manual option & go to C:/Program files/Vodafone/Vodafone Mobile Broadband/Drivers/Zte & select your modem from in there.

Once you've done 1 it might kick in the others or you might have to dig thru device manager & do all he same way for the 1st time.

If that doesn't work....... in the same "drivers" folder as above double click on the ZTEejectDisc file & see if it will install drivers after that.
 
Your problem is MBB Mass Storage Filter which prevents CD-ROM device from installing properly (note '!' next to Vodafone CD-ROM). Picture tells all, but I don't know where this MBB comes from, it could be some third-party software.
In Device Manager remove Vodafone CD-ROM device, then MBB device. Don't close Device Manger window, observe what happen. Unplug modem wait 90 seconds and replug again. If MBB filter comes back and Vodafone device comes with '!", repeat above, but remove anything dependent and including USB2 Enchanced... controller. Ignore requests to reboot. When finished, remove USB stick and reboot.

If doesn't help , you need to clean registry to remove MBB filter. Maybe Tun@ come with suggestion how to do it.

Removed registry entry "UpperFilters REG_MULTI_SZ GEARspiWDM" in key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}"
