French election 2012: one in five vote for Marine Le Pen as Nicolas Sarkozy is beaten

Marine Le Pen secured the highest score for the far-Right in French presidential election history on Sunday, in a third-place finish that will present a major challenge to the two mainstream candidates Nicolas Sarkozy and Francois Hollande, left in the race.

According to official forecasts, the 43-year-old daughter of the founder of the National Front (NF) secured between 18.2 and 20 per cent of the vote, performing even better than Jean Marie Le Pen’s shock result in 2002, when he won 17 per cent.

At her press conference on Sunday night she burst into a rendition of La Marseillaise in front of delirious supporters waving the national flag.

“Whatever happens over the next two weeks, the battle for France has only just begun,” she said.

“We have exploded the monopoly of the two [main] parties of banks, finance, of multinationals, of resignation and abandonment, and carried higher than ever before the hopes of national ideas.

“Faced with an incumbent president at the head of a considerably weakened party, we are the only opposition to the ultra-liberal, lax and libertarian Left.”

Why do you say she is Hitler 2.0? Has she called for the genocide of Jews? Does she plan to implement social Darwinism?

Simply being against immigration and the EU is in no way a Nazi-like attribute. Of course, the main reason the radical parties are getting a large proportion of the vote is precisely because mainstream political parties are ignoring those issues.

Not yet though I'd imagine the Muslims will be targeted this time. If she does come into power and manages to remove France from the EU, it's will be no surprise that their failing economy will be blamed on immigrants (who form quite a large part of the labour sector now).
 
Losing to Hollande(a Jew) will probably piss off her supporters. :D

Yeah they must be part of the ultra-liberal, lax and libertarian Left she makes reference to. Pity she missed out the word Marxist as that would've gotten her supporters jollies off like crazy.

Hollande is there because Strauss-Kohen was hauled off the stage, exit left.

Le Pen does well but still no more than her dad.

Melenchon does even better than Le Pen (from nowhere really) and looks like the commies are taking back the ground lost to the greens.

The greens are dead.

There are more "left" than "right" votes in the second round
so I'll bet a $ on Sarkozy retiring into a nice sinecure.
 
Compared to some South African's on mybb, Marine Le Pen is a left-wing liberal.

No. He can still win, he is running off against the socialist. Markets are down because of it apparently because the socialist has threatened to review the Euro agreement signed earlier (to solve the debt crisis).
 
Since when are you a far right person if you speak out against backwards Islamic cultures and the EU undermining the sovereignty of nations?
 
As long as the new president if there is a new one, sorts out the immigrants that are making problems there then he/ she is doing a good thing.
Its time that these trouble makers go back to their countries and stop their nonsense. Let them go make trouble in their own countries and see how far that gets them
