The treasury is joining in the etoll saga and they believe that it has to go ahead because SA economy will be affected if it doesn't.
Clearly we have people who do not understand economics working in the treasury.
Let's say that you get 10 km to the litre of petrol. Driving on the toll road for 10km will cost you R3.40 - that is an extra R3.40 per litre. Whereas an 8c per litre levy on the fuel price would do the job just fine and would leave R3.32 per litre in the drivers' pockets to really grow the economy.
But I guess shipping all of our money off to Austria really grows the economy in a way I just don't get.
