When does South Africa get the new Radeon and Nvidia series'?

Huh... both HD7xxx and GTX6xx lines are available right now from any major online retailer

Yeah I was about to say, almost every online store has gotten the new cards a week or two after they are released.

7850 is a good buy if you need to upgrade now.

if you have more cash to spend a 7950 or 7870

The only place I know of is Chaos Computers and they only stock the 6 series radeons. I even checked their catalogues and website.

Where can I get these??

Edit: I am in Cape Town Northen Suburbs.

Do you NEED to buy from a brick and mortar store? Just go online - Landmark, Wootware, Takealot, Prophecy, etc etc

If you give us a budget figure, then we can make good suggestions on what and where to buy...

Secondly, it would be helpful to also know what your system specs are (PSU, CPU, motherboard and RAM) as well as your operating system (eg. Win7 Home Premium x64).

8gb ddr3 in dual channel
gigabyte z68 ap-d3 (something like that)
i3 2120 (the one with 3.3 ghz)
radeon gigabyte 5670 1gb ddr5
antec hcg 620w

64 bit windows ultimate

as you can see i've slowly been upgrading, I had a dual core in december with ddr2 memory and alles. I had to replace everything to replace one part hence why I could not afford a 2500k sandy bridge or a nother gpu.

ekt a Zalman Z7 plus box gekoop.

The HD7970 is a waste of money in terms of performance, seeing that you can get the GTX680 for less and it performs better.

The only thing that AMD has managed to do with their new HD7xxx series cards is to be energy efficient, especially during idle and some on high load too.

Yip, even with the latest price cut on the 7970 of $70 (which I hazard we wont see locally for a while), it still loses out on the value front by about 4% (at HD resolutions). Its only once overclocked or triple monitors come into play that it regains some ground

Really! I did not know this, I was just going to be loyal since I'm satisfied with my 5670. But I don't mind changing, where can I get a GTX 680 in Cape Town and how much will it be? (please no more than R3500)

R3500 is more HD6950 or GTX570 territory. GTX680 is around the R6000 mark last time I checked...
Or crossfire HD6870

Maybe HD6970 if you shop around, but I think they are closer to R4000

holy **** R6000 that's enough to buy a scooter.

Naw I can't afford that i'll just have to settle for a GTX 560ti sli or 6870 crossfire or something like that.

Wootware (and others) are legit, as mentioned previously in this very thread. Yes, they deliver, think its R40 from them.. something like that

Wootware's service is outstanding.

Like my colleague ordered an HP microserver earlier this week, and now before they tell him to collect, they told him that his graphics card won't fit in the HP microserver, since it uses 2 PCI-E slots.
Usually the shops won't check for stuff like that.
