I haven't found the english version yet but hear it goes...

WAARSKUWING: WARNING!!!

Wees gewaarsku: Selfs iets so onskuldig soos 'n koeldrankblikkie kan

Luidens 'n berig in The Coastal & Country News word rooi tou of wit

hul huise as dit lyk of hulle welaf is.

Does anyone have any other experiences with this topic? house burgles etc?

Spend your money on external IR detectors - ours detect criminals as soon as they enter our backyard.

Saved us about 3 or 4 times from burglary since they were installed 3 months ago.

My 2c

Of course, now that their 'codes' are public, they will move on to other things eventually...

I have replaced all my outside lights with energy saving day/night lamps... works wonders! Obviously, if they watch the house, they will notice it, but up to now they have left my property alone, where the neighbours have had break-ins! Also, have to sets of security lights with IR detection in the front yard, which are activated at 12m distance, which is exactly where the wall is. Another good "helper", since they seem to hate light!

Read about this a while ago this "tactic" of marketing was actually used by the black south africans before the 1900's to show where they are gonne atack a white person. A white guy then discovered it and showed it to kids in uk/american and now they teach them this stuff the marking with rocks and whatever they can find in the scouts :p

Some useless info :D

Rather useless info indeed ... Coke was only available in glass bottles in 1900's .. never mind here in South Africa.

So where do you get this racist drivel from ???.

this onced happened at a farm at every few metres they put white plastic bags on the fence to lure them to the sheeps kraal in the night it's a shame that they didn't new about it before stopped them one night before they wanted to rob and about 2 nights later they stold about 80 sheeps anyways...

mostly thiefs will steel when its full moon becuase then they see better especially on farms

tibby its not racism please stop falling back to ur racist card I understand you hate white people because of personal reasons you have posted here but if I called every black person a racist or a k#$# because of some1 they killed in my family I would be a very sad person.

There was an article about this in a well known magazine a while ago.

I believe he meant colour coding, not the use of coke cans/bottles.

Perhaps your command of the english language is as piss poor as Aspersies from Tswane Stad but to me your statement is a rather gross generalization that black south africans (nice touch there btw) attacked whites.

Why not call them criminals or feckers or scumbags ???.

So you are the one playing the race card here mate and not me.

Next time think what you post.
The attacks were 'racially' motivated; this makes it relevant to know which 'races' were involved.

tibby I could have called the scumbags then you would have said "blah blah you know farm attackers are black now you are a racist calling them scumbags"

And tibby I was just saying that there was an article about it on how the signs started with an "african" person being pissed off with the white people taking their land they started with the signage and if any of the african people talked about it to the whites they would be killed and a british soldier saw it and asked the "africans" what it was and they explained after a while he then took what he learnt home and showed it to the scouts.

I haven't read it. I was just pointing out that your judgement was rash.

Now we have the proper context ... there were several bloody frontier wars between the Xhosa and the Cape Settlers about land and cattle before the 1900's.

According to the article they can make these signs with anything from rocks to plasticbags and if I could find the article name or remember the name of the zulu that started it all I would google it and give you a link its not all racist BS.

And it was created to kill the white people and are still being used today to kill white farmers.

11.4 11.4 Be on the lookout for evidence of the presence of intruders, eg empty bottles or tins; cartridge cases; pieces of paper; buttons; pieces of material; footprints or shoe prints; ash of fires at apparent campsites; waterholes and river beds; remnants of meals; cigarette butts; empty boxes; excrement; string; broken-off branches; and plastic bags. The evidence might form a pattern.

Well... this basically puts you at risk all over the country... time to start tidying up guys... Everywhere I go there are packets, bottles, cans, etc. Wouldn't it be good if we all just kept our bit of the street clean?
