For those who didn't get the notice via email:

----------------------------------------------------

Valued subscriber,

TelkomInternet will be performing routine maintenance on our e-mail servers over the weekend of 13 May 2006.

This will unfortunately result in the unavailability of our E-mail services for a short period. This essential maintenance is scheduled to commence at 20H00 on Saturday 13th of May and will be completed by 18H00 on Sunday the 14th of May 2006.

This maintenance upgrade will only affect e-mail services, and no other services will be impacted. Customers will not be able to send or receive e-mail messages during this period, but will be able to utilise their Internet access services. All Customers are advised to download any e-mail messages still on our servers, prior to this upgrade.
This will allow us to manage the upgrade process more effectively.

We wish to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Regards,

TelkomInternet technical support.

LOL for some reason I foresee chaos. International going down, local latency sky high, Rosebank link failing, but email that wasn't supposed to work will be the only thing working.

*gulps*

I'm Afraid to look and see what happens then...I'm also expecting the worse...

Did they say short? Short is 1 hour, 2 hours. A day is a long time

LOL! One of the reasons why I registered my own domain, and have my own email! IMO too many SME's are using the mailboxes from their ISPs, and this is therefore very bad news for them!

that's why i only use G-Mail. I can switch providers and still have the same Email addy.

yup, you must get a za.net domain, then you can have as many aliases as you want, and forward to different boxes as you feel etc.. I do that. + gmail. that way no one knows my gmail addy and when i notice spam gets much on one of my alias accounts i just kill the alias

and gmail are now beta testing domain hosting
my taos.za.net email is hosted by gmail. makes life really easy, and I am another google sucker. :D

Time to clear off some stickies per chance?
