I actually think this is quite likely. One can't ignore the stressful nature of the current situation though. Maybe health issues? I've been told that two senior people working on the project as sub-contractors, have had heart attacks due to stress.
 
He knows that the **** is going to hit the fan soon and I think he jumoed ship before it hit the fan :) Bwahahahhahaha what a LOSER!!!
 
I heard he borrowed portions of Churchill's speech in his farewell:
