WTF is wrong with kids these days? Not that it's her fault, this is obviously some sort of an attempt to get attention... but still.

I've contemplated suicide numerous times, think about it daily in most instances, yet, come to the conclusion that life CANT be that tough and that gets me through another day....

What goes on in a mind of a child to commit suicide? Is it really THAT tough????

I think that peer pressure has a lot to do with the stresses facing the youth of today-if you don't have the latest cell phone, branded clothes and so on then you're not with it and this can lead to feelings of being left out which results in the perception of being an outsider.

Not being one of the 'in crowd ' is probably the wost thing a teenager of today can face.

Everyone handles situations differently. You, AcidRazor, have luckily come to that conclusion, but many kids (people) dont have the will/strength/support to reach that conclusion...

That's pretty messed up...

It's also a little worrying that someone would contemplate suicide on a daily basis mate. :)

I would really like to know what the teen suicide rates were like 100 years ago.

I certainly think that there's a problem with our society in general that teen suicides have become a phenomenon. If I had to guess at the direct cause, it's that teens spend too much time with their peers and not enough with people who are older or younger than they are.

Older people might help them gain perspective, and younger people might remind them that life isn't quite as complicated as they make it out to be. Besides, younger people usually look up to anyone that's older than them, and depressed teenagers could get a much needed feelgood kick from that.

100 years ago many teens aged 15 were already married. I think you would probably find a lot in terms of male teen suicides :D

AcidRazor: **** you. This girl was one of my closest friends. She did it for anything but attention. And furthermore, don't believe what you lot are reading in the papers, because it's all bull**** and attempts to see which newspaper can capture the biggest audience.

Dovi: I am sorry for your loss.

Though I (and I'm sure others) take care to consider each story on its merits, you must realize that this is the only source of the story to garner fact from. If the facts are skewed, missing or misrepresented then one cannot take exception with the reader on the assumptions made from a story. We are forced to a degree to accept what is contained within news reports until alternative evidence pointing to alternative facts sways us from original opinion. Thank you for giving us the benefit of the doubt.

Sorry to hear Dovi, I too lost a close friend to suicide 3 years back. I know it's upsetting and stuff, but sometimes you have to face the facts kiddo. Suicide is not the answer, and certainly shouldn't be used just because you don't get your own way. In my opinion, people who commit suicide are chicken ****, with no guts to face their problems. There are people with much bigger problems in the world, yet they don't run away from it by killing themselves. In the end who suffers the most? Family and loved ones. It's totally unfair on them. I'm really sorry if that seems harsh in any way as I know this is a difficult time, but bear with me and you'll soon come to the same conclusion

Dovi, I am sure AcidRazor did not mean any disrespect.

if news24 did not report the story correctly, please tell us what really happened.

If she really wanted to get the message out there she should have made it live with a webcam...

But ya she must have had it tough.

Sorry Dovi , wish you long life !! (as we say in judaism) Really sorry to hear and i also don't think Acid meant any disrespect :)

So sad. So young. My sympathy, Dovi. What can we do to help prevent it from happening to other youngsters?

This is just awful. Sympathy to you Dovi. As a parent of a young teenage girl this terrifies me. What drives young people to this and what can I do to not have it happen? I can't even remember my life that far back very well. Like Ajak says, so sad.
