In certain parts of South Africa where the following conditions
occur
1) Cable theft is rife
2) Street Distribution Cabinets vandalised
3) Telkom cannot provide service

Companies will start looking for wireless based VoIP solutions,
In areas where cable theft is rife as fast as Telkom installs new cable,
the midnite cable thieves are in operation removing the new cable.

Exchange point
* Install an Asterisk PBX with Telkom lines
* Connect Asterisk PBX to Wireless Access Point

Customer side
* Connect IP Phones to Wireless LAN network

Alternative:
Use GSM operators for lines instead of Telkom, then no
need to install Asterisk PBX in "safe" location
That is if the GSM operators have coverage in the area.

Customers:
Farmers , Housing Estates
Farmers need to access the markets to remain competitive with broadband access catering only for the econonomical viable high density areas thus leaving them high & dry with no fast online internet access, resorting to expensive slow dialup access or No access at all.

In some housing estates Telkom cannot deliver services for another
18 months, so these solutions will prove more and more a way forward.

Services provided:
* Telecom services - voice & fax
* Internet access - email, web
* Security cameras - monitor your children in the playground, workers

Actually wireless VOIP will ultimately wipe out every traditional voice provider including the cell networks. It is inevitable. In a few years time Vodacom and MTN will look like idiotic dinosaurs. When mobile IP enabled devices are able to connect cheaply from everywhere (think WIMAX) gsm cellphones will be history in a matter of a few years, and because IP telephony is packet switched and uses TCP/IP there will be no way to bill for calls by distance or even duration.
