Finally they woke up:
http://www.cellc.co.za/content/services/smartdatagprs.asp

25 MB -> R39
100 MB -> R100
200 MB -> R175
500 MB -> R350
1 GB -> R500

Not on prepaid though, that's still R2 per MB.

Wonder if there's carry over on the bundles?

Yip, I saw an ad in the rapport today, where you get a contract with a data bundle (25MB) and a USB modem sticky thingy etc.
Still don't know though, i feel the cellc's gprs is too slow to browse on properly.

They got EDGE atm, and apparently are releasing 3G|HDSPA by year-end.

Oops, soz man, I forgot to mention that they don't have EDGE coverage in my area, that's why i moaned about the gprs speeds. :)

Does anyone know anything about their usb stick thingy? How much it will cost out of contract?

Trying to get info on the potential expiry or carry over on the new bundles from Cell C is useless. I emailed customer care and they come back with the standard "in order for us to assist you please give us your Cell C number".
What, now I have to buy a Cell C simcard first before they answer my question?

Wake up, Cell C! :mad:

Vodacom also want your number before they help you. If you want asstiance call 084 140 they will help you. And don't worry there not like Vodacom and MTN the longest you will be on hold is 30 seconds.

30 seconds? I will give you the benefit of the dought and assume that was a typo...
I called 140 as per your suggestion and was on hold for 9 minutes and 52 seconds...
[Granted, the little ads inbetween about not having airtime was entertaining to an extent.]

Cell C 3G, honestly, are you the spokesperson for Cell C or are you going to be like a certain very irritable Iburst reseller on this same forum?
It would be great if we can have someone from Cell C answer questions.

Anyway, I was told the data bundles expire after 30 days :(
EDIT: Surely the website should mention this important little detail??

I don't work for Cell C, is very strange that you were on hold that long. Anyway our call center will answer a cell C customer before an outside call. Sorry for that will report it!

I called from a Cell C number. I actually have my own Cell C number, call it prepaid manual least cost routing if you may :D
Also there are benefits in having connections to all 3 networks in case your "primary data connection" fails.

Quick question: What is the ETA on prepaid data bundles?

EDIT:

It used to be slow, but has improved to a very usable level lately.

Why not just buy a network unlocked HSDPA/3G/EDGE/GPRS card cash? Then you won't have to worry about hardware changes for the next year perhaps!
