USB Ports on HP1955 LCD

Hello all

I have a HP 1955 LCD monitor, which has 4 USB ports on it, but I cant seem to use them. Does anyone know what I need to do in order to see them?
My PC has 6 USB ports all of which work fine.

You have to connect the monitor to a open USB port on the computer using the right cable. The monitor just acts as a USB hub when connected to the computer.

USB devices <-> Monitor <-> USB uplink cable <-> Computer

Which port on my PC, or does it not matter? For that matter - which port on my monitor?
And what is the right cable - one with the same connector at both ends I presume?
 
Any available USB port on the PC using TypeA USB connector.
A special smaller USB port on the monitor using TypeB USB connector.

The right cable is not one with the same connector on both ends. On the one end is the normal flat rectangle connector (for the PC - TypeA), and on the other end is an almost square connector (for the monitor - TypeB). The same square connector can be found on the USB port of most printers.

It makes sense and in fact I had the connector cable here all the time! I thought it was for digital caemras to connect directly to my monitor.
Works beautifully and I now have 9 USB ports available.
