how to block streaming through Router

Hi

Anyone out there that knows how to block the ports on a ADSL Telkom router to prevent streaming. they listen radio over the internet and it's using all the bandwidth.

AFAIK, most live radio stations in SA don't use a specific port i.e. they use port 80 so blocking that will just kill your connection.

I rather recommend that you block the URLs of the live feeds. Use a sniffer to get what they are listening to. 5fms feed is http://www.antfarm.co.za/clients/5fm/silversands/asxGenPop.asp
so you would block www.antfram.co.za/clients/5fm/*. Not sure how this is done in Telkom's Router.

Another option is, assuming that you are running on capped ADSL, to let the idiots stream radio and on then on day 14 of a month be capped - so they can't do any work and raise the ire of your boss. :D
 
maybe get a linux based firewall ... then use net filter to filter packets..
 
Of course there is always packeteer.

If you realy want to sh*t in your pants, install a packeteer between your Firewall / Switch and your router, and the see what is really using your bandwidth..
