Hi guys how are use?
A couple friends of mine (abt 30 of us) had a forum where they all posted a whole lot of crap while at work. The server that was hosting it for them (from another friend is dead and the guy isn't working there anymore). They asked me setup a new one.
I have managed to get 80mb's webspace with unlimited bw usuage provided files are small. I am shareing this bandwidth from another site.
I was just wondering if anyone could guide me on how to setup a free forum. No complex forums needed. Just simple easy to setup forums.
www.phpbb.com
Or how about http://invisionfree.com and use the 80mb space for something else.

It is not so much disk space that you need but a DB of sorts. phpBB is a simple install but you need mySQL. If you have a msSQL db then try out Snitz 2000.

busy setting up phpBB now - requirements are:
* A webserver or web hosting account running on any major Operating System
* A SQL database system, one of:
o MySQL (3.22 or higher)
o PostgreSQL 7.0.3 or higher (preferably 7.1.x or 7.2.x)
o MS SQL Server (7 or 2000) directly or via ODBC
o MS Access (2000 or XP) via ODBC
* PHP (4.0.3 and above) with support for the database you intend to use above
will let you know how it goes
*EDIT*
php comes with fedora core 4

I'd suggest SMF forum as the phpBB doesn't handle the multiple dynamic IPs too well. You might end up having to log in multiple times during a single session.

Yeah, I use SMF and it's very easy to manage
