"Zombie apocalypse" talk spreads across the internet

Don't you have to be dead first?
Am I mistaken or are these people just cannibals? :wtf:

I love how serious people can get about zombies and completely ignore basic body functions that allow people to go about their business - like the circulatory system... Muscles with whatever pathogen are not going to work for very long with nutrients and oxygen...

Therefore the only realistic "zombie" type scenario is one where zombies either conform to biological rules and can die rather easily or they are completely crazy and have a very short "life"span.

I forgot to add I think the appeal around zombies is the thought of blowing them away, a situation where you have legitimate reason to take out your boss with a pump action shotgun

These are stories about living people doing violent deeds. Reanimation is completely separate to living people going crazy. Way to slap a coat of sensationalism onto it.

Zombies

Seems people don't actually understand the concept of Zombies.

Voodoo apparently does ( and so does the ANC central committee -- they are all Zombies )

Several decades later, Wade Davis, a Harvard ethnobotanist, presented a pharmacological case for zombies in two books, The Serpent and the Rainbow (1985) and Passage of Darkness: The Ethnobiology of the Haitian Zombie (1988). Davis traveled to Haiti in 1982 and, as a result of his investigations, claimed that a living person can be turned into a zombie by two special powders being introduced into the blood stream (usually via a wound). The first, coup de poudre (French: "powder strike"), includes tetrodotoxin (TTX), a powerful and frequently fatal neurotoxin found in the flesh of the pufferfish (order Tetraodontidae). The second powder consists of dissociative drugs such as datura. Together, these powders were said to induce a death-like state in which the will of the victim would be entirely subjected to that of the bokor. Davis also popularized the story of Clairvius Narcisse, who was claimed to have succumbed to this practice.

Perhaps a new plan to turn most of the population into Zombies so that they can all be culled legally ?

Global De-Population

Here is something I bet you never knew ?

Jacques-Yves Cousteau

Jacques-Yves Cousteau wanted to go part of the way toward abolishing mankind. In a November 1991 interview with The UNESCO Courier, he said:

[In response to an interviewer's question, "Some snakes, mosquitoes, and other animal species pose threats or dangers for humankind. Can they be eliminated like viruses that cause certain diseases?," Cousteau said:] "Getting rid of viruses is an admirable idea, but it raises enormous problems. In the first 1,400 years of the Christian era, population numbers were virtually stationary. Through epidemics, nature compensated for excess births by excess deaths. I talked about this problem with the director of the Egyptian Academy of Sciences. He told me that scientists were appalled to think that by the year 2080 the population of Egypt might reach 250 million. What should we do to eliminate suffering and disease? It's a wonderful idea but perhaps not altogether a beneficial one in the long run. If we try to implement it we may jeopardize the future of our species. It's terrible to have to say this. World population must be stabilized and to do that we must eliminate 350,000 people per day. This is so horrible to contemplate that we shouldn't even say it. But the general situation in which we are involved is lamentable." (1126)

"We must eliminate 350,000 people per day." That works out to 127,750,000 people per year, and 1.27 billion people over 10 years.

'Miami Zombie'

Eugene's girlfriend has her own theory on what happened that day. She believes Eugene was drugged unknowingly. The only other explanation, she said, was supernatural — that someone put a voodoo curse on him. The girlfriend, who unlike Eugene is not Haitian, said she has never believed in voodoo, until now.
