Does this mean that Americans will start to speak English (as opposed to American)? :)

Obviously you've never been to England. :p

Woart mate, me wvive lourvs to make bcan an' egg fo' tea

I was reading the Digg comments about this and it seems that particularly the southern states such as California have a huge problem with regards to people speaking English. Most of them refuse to speak English and rather talk Spanish.

Also it seems a pre-requisite in the immigrant states seems to be speaking Spanish and English.

Arriving at Newark airport (New Jersey) last year all the information signs inside the airport are in English and Spanish!

Yes. Haha.
The Yanks have their very own version of English along with riding on the right(wrong) side of the road and still measure in inches, feet and yards, despite the fact the bulk of the world has gone metric long ago.

But to a Yank, is there other life beyond Mars, oops I mean the USA? :D

I think South African English as per the spell checkers, must be very similar to UK English, if not the same?

The vast majority of the world drives on the right (correct) side of the road.
Left hand drive cars tend to be cheaper thanks largely to economies of scale.

As for bastardizing the English language. Have you ever heard one of those cheesy thick SA accents in a movie? Thats what south africans sound like to other nations. ;):p
