Opinions on the new Fax2Mail service Required

Morning guys & gals....

I would appreciate some feedback on the new free fax2mail service offered by us.

There are many organisations offering free fax-to-email services, this product is not unique to iBurst.


iBurst's strategy is to bundle VAS's that will enhance customers' Internet access experience. This means offering customers useful products and services from one single point of contact, which complements the Internet access products they subscriber to from iBurst. Although subscribers are coming to iBurst because they want affordable broadband internet access, ultimately their Internet access connection is just an enabler that allows access to products and services which provide value to subscribers."

I will use the service when I get my IBurst re-instated. It’s better than having everything sent to my work for everyone to read.
The technician recommended I wait for the new Omni-Directional aerials.

VAS's are great but more bandwidth would be better.
 
Well I don't use iburst and I doubt I ever will but I will tell you this... fax2mail is extremely useful. It just cuts down on so much time and makes everything so much nicer :)

heh... i didnt even know iburst had this... i was interested in post net's similiar offer, but if iburst offers it great.... um i imagine i can find more baout this on ibursts site?
 
Hi Shaun, my comments can be found in [post=531875]this news article thread[/post], my burning question about this free service from iBurst, is do you get to keep your 0865 fax number if you change to another ISP, and related to that, does a received fax have to be forwarded to an email account tied to iBurst [e.g. [email protected]]? If your customers have a 100% assurance that they will get to keep their 0865 fax number from iBurst after deciding to leave iBurst as their ISP, then I don't really have a problem with the service as there is not much difference between iBurst's 0865 and the existing 0866 fax2email...

One thing about the marketing, unless iBurst also offers an email2fax service, you cannot market it as a truely 'untethered to your fax machine' service - since at some point everyone eventually needs to send a fax...

Replace *'s with name of any telecommunications or service providers company and product name and you have the same strategy for all of them.:rolleyes: Sigh Whatever happened to individuality.

It's like investing, never put all your eggs in one basket because when it drops they all break.

Something we will unfortunately not see in the near future due to the above strategy.

We would actually prefer a product that is affordable by international standards and comparable in respects of speed, quality and accessibilty without fear of being capped to the same affect.

Shaun, what you can take from this (and virtually all other posts meant to glean what we as consumers want) is that we are tired of the same old bullsh!t being thrown at us. Forget VAS', give us what we actually want!

I cant tell you anything for shure, but the service is offered to Iburst users and as part of the Iburts service. Iburst also arent just a ISP, they are a company providing internet access. So I doubt very much if you would be able to keep the service at all after leaving Iburst, and probably the number too. But it would be nice is they let you keep the number.

About the email adress, I almost went to go sign up for it and it does say that you do not need to use a wbs adress at all. The example they give you of an email adress to fill in when applying is not even an @wbs adress.

I recently applied and received my new fax number. However, it appears that the number can only be dialled nationallly and not internationally. I've been able to fax to this number from with n ZA but no one can fax me from an international number e.g from the UK, the line appears to be dead, or a message is received explaining that the number does not exist.
In order to fax the number internationally one dials +278650*****. Is there international blocking. I called Iburst yesterday they said no and that it should be reachable from anywhere in the world. However, this does not appear to be the case at the moment. Please can you help?

0866 fax2email numbers are also only reachable sending from within SA, if iBurst don't even know that their own 0865 fax number range can only be dialled from within SA, then I am honestly not surprised...:rolleyes:
 
Thanks IC for the heads up.
This is a great shame from a business perspective, I prefer to use fax for international communication when for example, emailing documentation is not possible or acceptable.

I'll have to give the fax2email service the thumbs down, and fingers crossed for the international capability to be added to this useful service.
 
I have received faxes from Holland on my 0866 fax number supplied by FoneWorx without hassle. It is their business to do it.

WBS should stick with putting up base stations unless they can do fax-to-email at half the going rate (to senders of the faxes), and that they can't do.
 
Does the fetching the fax via email count towards your 1Gig/3Gig/6Gig/9Gig cap?

If so, then not only does the sender pay for the fax, but then iBursts' marketing is also incorrect. The service is not "free" to the end-user.
 
Yes you do pay (in terms of cap).. but what exacty is the charge on a 30kb email? not even 1c, much less.

And the service is being able to get your fax in the email, not being able to recieve free faxes. The "cost" of email is obviously implied.

Are you even serious with this being a complaint?
 
Hehehehe, that is a good one ;). Think of it this way: it would be a lot more expensive for you to just keep a phone line to recieve faxes, than it is going to cost you in terms of cap usage to download the faxes ;).
 
Hi Shaun.
Good to see some movement from Iburst, funny thing is I just signed up for an 0866 number this weekend. Nevertheless, fax2email is pretty handy. What would REALLY be good though, is email2fax. At the moment, I still need to dig out my old phoneline modem to send faxes from my pc, which is a real pain.
