Hi,

I got myslef a WRT54GL today and have been wanting to setup the internet connection, and just havent been able to get it to work.

I have been using the modem in bridge mode since i got it, and use the "connect box" that comes up when opening a browser to connect to the net.

I put the WRT54GL setup CD in, did the basic setup...entered my adsl account in PPPOE, and everything went smoothly until it checked my connection, it said "No internet detected etc etc" So i tried to setup manually and found both the modem and router uses 192.168.1.1 so i changed the modem to 192.168.1.2 but still no luck :(

Am i supposed to be connecting some how else? Whenever i open the browser it just says page not found...Is there a special way to connect through a router??

Please help me out im lost :(

On an otherwise utterly futile search for the manual (dumbass manufacturer!), I stumbled across this review that has a guide for the setup you have there. The section on getting the router to play nicely with the modem is a bit sparse, but may be enough to do the trick.

But, between reading that article and from playing with these kinda toys, I CAN tell you that your chain is [wall]--[RJ11 dlink RJ45]--[WAN port WRT54GL LAN port]--[LAN port your PC] (presuming a wired connection), by way of physical connections. Then, you can't have 2 DHCP servers trying to run the show (think of how your mistress and wife would get along :D) so someone has to give way -and that'd be the WaRT: set it to forward DHCP to the DLink and you should be on your way!
