Cosato: ANC in 'SA heading for dictatorship'

I am sorry no more! I was about to apologize here on MyADSL for my rash posts and negative remarks regards this country and the ANC. I though maybe I am to rash and pessimistic! When I opened the my normal Mweb main page this appeared, stared me into my face. So I thought if this is what Cosatu say I cannot be far of the ball!

The funny thing is that COSATU will complain about South Africa turning into a dictatorship, but all its members will without fail vote for ANC in the elections.

Our country has a dicatorship by the will of the people (sounds quite ironic doesn't it):confused:

Erm, how's it funny? COSATU forms part of the Tripartite alliance - an alliance that effectively ensures majority rule in SA elections. COSATU ensures the ANC victory from the ground up, so to speak.

Back on topic. Cosatu feels hard done by the current ANC executive. Their calls for putting an end to privatisation is going unheeded. The promise of Jobs and Houses by Government is being delivered extremely slowly - if at all. And the succession issue from Cosatu's perspective is not receiving any attention, but instead being undermined by the Executive. Cosatu will be pushing really hard in the next few months to have Zuma announced as the successor to Mbeki. As it is, Cosatu have previously called for Mbeki to step aside.
 
If COSATU doesnt like whats happening im sure there are other political parties that would be happy to form an alliance with them. If they dont do this then they are just procrastinating and deserve what they get
 
I think Zuma is more likely to become a dictator than Mbeki.

Ahhh... Except: Money, COSATU as an organisation is extremely rich, but most of that money is tied up in the ANC. They won't form an alliance with anyone else anyway, no other organisation is big enough.

Agree with Cosatu wena' ! No, not the least. Agree that this country is on the ZIM road to disaster YES! By all means. Cosatu just confirmed my fears if they can see it also then well, what can I say, the electorate must be able to see it too, but they do not care! Look at Zim as example!
 
I think the best thing that can happend for democracy in this country would be if the ANC splits into multiple smaller parties.

This would create confusion in the masses that vote for ANC purely on the fact that they libirated them and maybe the we can get some ppl getting votes on merrit rather that precedent.

I am in full agreement, but I don't see it happening for at least another 5-10 years. The mentality of voting for the ANC is so entrenched in the mindset of so many South Africans, because of the role the ANC played in the struggle.

It would take a phenomenal black leader to get attract voters away from the ANC and into a new party, and I see no one in the ANC with the courage to do so.

If not Zuma then who?
My money is Phumzile, the rest of the cabinet are all pretty hopeless. Though who knows, after all the stirling work Ivy is doing, maybe she well be president or maybe Nkosazama.

Interesting. When I suggested an emotional bias in voting patterns I got slated and flamed to pieces.

What a nifty Idea. We may just as well have one that sleeps most of the time as It will not make any difference. Mbeki is always out traveling and have no interest in the National matters. We wont miss anything. Then again with Ivy in charge or rather busy recharging maybe then the rest of the GVT could function unless they are also recharging!

You may have gotten flamed, but I very much doubt anyone gave a well reasoned argument as to why you are wrong. There's probably a reason for that... wonder what it could be? ;)

If you give undisputable facts or refer to any point that cannot be defeated with the Wikipedia you always get slated or made out as a race-card issue. Is the same emotional reactions in play! as you suggested! Part of the fun, keeping this forum alive between the long and protracted broadband issues, enjoy it!
