Original soundtrack vs "family" soundtrack

Why is it, when I select Original Soundtrack on my HD PVR decoder, half the dialogue is blanked out whenever anyone says something that someone, somewhere thinks is offensive? Has DSTV been taken over by a bunch of PC cadres or something? I'd love to know what the producers of these movies and series have to say on the subject.

I don't particularly like hearing bad language on the screen but I find it completely offensive that the decision to listen to it or not is taken out of my hands by an organization that has no problem in taking increased amounts of money from me every year for repeats interspersed with the odd show worth watching.
 
It usually defaults to the "family" setting... and that is annoying enough.
But if you can't rectify it by changing to original that would really piss me off.
 
What pissed me off was the surround soundtrack was censored too.

Yet another nail in the coffin of my DSTV subscription.
 
You need to change it through the menu, changing it on the channel is just temporary.
 
That's not the issue, a lot of times the original soundrack has the 'offensive' words blanked out too which irritates as I want to hear it the way it was intended. Reading on the DSTV forum about this a while ago I got the distinct impression they not interested in fixing it.

No stress, you can always find a torrent or NZB with the original soundtrack. Piracy FTW!

I don't seem to have that problem on the movies I downloaded from the Internet.
 
Yar.. none of the stuff I download even in HD has this stupidity
 
DSTV sucks balls... they will soon enough learn that they are increasingly pissing off their subscribers
 
This is something that does irritate me about DSTV.... and also their inability to moderate volumes, and they seem to use differing volume control methods, depending on the soundtrack being used.

So for instance Discovery HD Showcase in Surround, the DSTV volume control doesn't work to reduce the channels volume, I have to change the volume on my amp itself.
