So he's still fine to wish the yoof well, but too old to stick to his guns about "fighting against white oppression, fighting against black oppression, an ideal I'm willing to die for". The world's most famous hypocrite.

Who is oppressing who now that needs Mandela's old man stick?

You can't tell me this is the South Africa he struggled for. Yet, the one man who's voice carries any weight just sits in the shadows and says nothing.
No, it is not quite what he had in mind. But he'd pick over the previous one any time. The man is old, let him rest - remember he was once ridiculed at an ANC NEC meeting for trying to voice his displeasure at Mbeki's slide to dictatorship.

I think you confused fudzy with fazda.

It's difficult because we don't have avatars.

There's this other named Ricard who also posts. Many I see my name and read the weirdest things, only to realize it's Ricard and not Picard.

rpm ... puhleeze?

Doesn't vbulletin allow admins to set the parameters for avatars and sigs? You can set it to something really small.

As a school teacher I would hope you would be promoting reading :erm:

Seriously, leave the old guy alone, philanthropy should be the only thing a retired person does.
If you say so. IMHO, if you come out and say something like "you've made fighting inequality your LIFE LONG MISSION and you're willing to die for it" - that's a statement for life.

So - being ridiculed by the corrupt oppressor that he claimed to be out to fight is worse than facing a possible death sentance (fighting apartheid)?

If you're going to be a martyr and leave a legacy as a martyr, at least be consistent. I'm not asking that he start a new militant movement. Publicly voting for a different party, or at the very least publishing a letter that voiced his concerns and disapproval of the ex-liberation movement would go a long way.

They won't listen to him anyway, so why bother.
