looking for designing tips for seo point of view

Hello Frineds,

I am looking for new things like desinging with seo prospective...

now every website is been approching their marketing prospective....
and looking for seo friendly website design.

can any one tell me or guide me about seo friendly web design.

Hi Michael.

Our main domain names are southafricanhosting.co.za and hostingresellers.co.za . We use our in-house CMS system which is very basic. It autocreates a small text site map, to help search engines find the pages linked to the menu etc. We recently began posting on this forum and sorted out our profile on social media (a Facebook page, Twitter account, LinkedIn etc). We certainly haven't perfected our site/profiles etc, but it seems what we have been doing has helped. We seem to have risen to number 8 on Google.co.za for the search term "south african hosting" and 1st for "hosting resellers" . However....we dont appear in any results for "south africa hosting", so it is clear that your domain name..seems to have great importance to Google. Thought that sharing this might help. I would suggest a good domain name, some links to it on forums/tweets etc, may help you.
 
So you create an account asking a question your other account can reply to?

I hope the responses aren't in regard to our post. We aren't the original poster, and our response was a completely genuine response trying to help someone asking a genuine question. Apologies if it was taken mistakenly as spam. Not the intention. As mentioned in our post, other keywords on Google dont list us at all, so the point was that obviously Google does look at the domain name quite heavily. Once again...we were not trying to spam....we were trying to make an SEO point.

I've done a screen shot showing the number 1 position for hostingresellers.co.za for the search words "hosting resellers" below. If you search Google for reseller hosting, we aren't listed at all, which is the point I was trying to make...that obviously your domain name impacts on your Google ranking....I was trying to help the original poster...not spam the forum.

@southafricanhosting.co.za - your post really looks like RAS and advertising your site since you have not provided any useful information to the OTP. Don't think it's worth wasting time one giving a genuine detailed reply, but in short
- Use canonical URLs and a good URL-/site-structure
- Monitor your site via Google Webmaster Toolkit
- If eCommerce use Microformat notations
- Follow the H1-H3 markup for content (i.e. H1-H3s should correlate with your <TITLE> and actual content in your <BODY>
- Use meaningful anchor texts
- Avoid any blackhat strategies (link-buying, link-farms, keyword stuffing etc)

Google Analytics help-pages are your best source and there are obviously plenty of sites dedicated to SEO.
 
MagicDude, if you read our post clearly , you'll see we were trying to help the OP by showing that there is a link between domain name and search terms, and the link to the screenshot in a later post highlights that. It's definately helpful to anyone interested in that sort of thing. We have changed a lot of content on our site, so when Google refreshes, we might not be at number 1 for "hosting resellers" any longer. These aren't unimportant search terms....I'd say they are quite important search terms, and we seem to have had a little success. We have no idea how it happened....we haven't applied any of the steps you mentioned (although at some point I'm sure we will). As I mentioned, we have no success getting listed for other terms which are close (but not the same as) the domain names. ( eg reseller hosting gives us no placement). This highlights the point I was trying to make. If we wanted to spam, we would be posting in a part of the forum which gets a lot more traffic, dont you think. We were only trying to be helpful :)
 
Sooooo many names and URL's for a single company:confused: Why?
 
I could explain the thinking for each of our domains, but we'd be accused of spamming:) Some domains may have been to test an idea, others may have been company name related, whereas the new domains are more product name orientated. Our customer support email is generic so resellers can give it to their clients and we can do anonymous support....similarly for billing. So it's difficult to answer your question precisely, but there's no reason to be overly suspicious. If we suddenly started selling online cloud storage, we'd possibly register a domain name reflecting that.

Makes sense =) I would suggest having a well known name for the company though, it's near impossible finding any info on your company which will count against you at some stage
 
Yep. Unfortunately when we started our business 12 years ago, we chose a close corporation name which started with KZN..... which in retrospect wasnt big enough to support our national status, so we purposefully didnt advertise it, but have rather gone for domain names which are more representative of our business today. If someone was deciding to begin a business today, our advice would be, give yourself a name which you can grow into. It's a mistake we've had to live with.
