Article: Universities for Nelspruit and Kimberley

New universities for Mpumalanga and the Northern Cape will be located in the capitals of the two provinces, President Jacob Zuma said on Thursday.

"The seat and main campus for the university in Mpumalanga will be at the Lowveld Agricultural College, a site overlooking the city of Nelspruit and close to the new provincial parliament," Zuma told a labour department jobs fair in Richards Bay.

Universities are the only way for kids from Nelspruit and Kimberley to get out of there, don't take that away from them.

how about they also fix the k@k universities first?

True. I do feel that we need more.
But would more schools not be a better place to start? We need kids that will be able to use these unis. No use having higher education with the rate our kids are failing the basics.

Perhaps you did not hear about a fatal stampede at UJ earlier this year. There is definitely more prospective students than there are spaces currently available to accommodate all of them. Most of those lining up at UJ are from far off places like Mpumalanga and Northern Cape.

More universities are definitely a good thing. I'm actually surprised they're proposing spending tax money on the things it's intended for. I seem to recall we did have significantly more universities in the past, yet someone who shall remain nameless merged a lot of them. mmmm.

Although the terrible standard of primary and secondary schools should also be adressed. It doesn't help having 100 universities if the kids can't even pass matric, nd wryte lyk dis wif dey mxit speek ol da tyme.
