Would you rather live in a safe, peaceful shack with no worries about getting killed or robbed and struggle to earn and living

OR
would you rather be a millionaire who lives in the most dangerous area, where you afraid to sleep because of the fear of being killed? Being a millionaire you would have it all but your inmate desire of security would remain unfulfilled?

I think I would choose living in a shack.

Stupid question, the shack will be subject to more violence and even natural disasters and disease.
The millionaire can stay anywhere he likes, with security systems and guards.

I think inmates mostly desire to not be in prison anymore.

But as to the question: Couldn't the rich guy just hire a personal army to protect him?

No. He has been barred. Everyone in the entire world working in the security industry have black listed him and threatened to murder the family of anyone who provides him with the service of security, and all governments and black markets concur, and everyone knows about it. k?

Or lets just put it another way..

Material wealth and mental anguish
Or
Peace of mind and abject poverty

Well then the answer is obvious, I'd take the first one, seeing as wer're talking hypthetically since neither of those conditions would ever exist.
 
Nether situations are nice , its like cutting off your left foot or your right foot. Why cant we find a happy medium?

So I can choose between a poor guy who can't afford to do anything, or a rich guy who isn't allowed to do anything because of these hypothetical rules...

If this was the real world everyone would choose the rich guy because you can still be rich and live in a shack with no worries about gettin killed.

No apparently not , if you choose the rich guy then you gotta go with the unsafe area.
 
Well, if we are to believe Maslow and his heirarchy of needs, then the need for security trumps being shot dead in a nice ferrari. Hence if we're ultimately forced to choose between a secure scenario and a non-secure scenario, as much as we'd like the cash, ultimately the majority of us should choose the shack and safety, and then work up the needs ladder from there.

In the real world however, there isnt a rich person on earth who cant get security, even if he is the most black-listed fool on the planet, because where ever there is a pot of money, there are leprechauns who want some of it. So the options presented are seriously flawed and pointless.
