Remember to log off before midnight, or your bandwidth of today/tonight may end up coming of next month's cap. :eek: And you don't want that, do you?
 
That sound scary,

does that mean if I've gone over my cap during the course of the month and i purchase bandwidth during a session when i disconnect then it will be debited on to the new bandwidth?
 
Its happened to me. I had 500MB left one month. On the night before the new month, I downloaded about 450MB during a session which finished just after midnight. When I checked my bandwidth the following morning that entire 450MB had been taken off the new month, so I was down to 2.55GB.

That's why I say disconnect just before midnight to reset your bandwidth count, and avoid the possibility of losing out.

Of course, even better would be if Iburst fixed this bug.
 
Must remeber this tonight, shouldnt this go under the FAQ or be stickied or something? Pretty important tip.
 
So, the megs downloaded is added onto the period at the time when you disconnect...scary

I remembered this from previous threads. Wasn't downloading anything or hadn't downloaded since the last time I had disconnected but figured better safe than sorry.

My theory, and it only a theory, is that bandwidth usage is updated when logging on/off, and daily at 2am (when the bandwidth reports are generated).

It might also update when you do an online bandwidth query. But I haven't tested that out.
 
The bandwidth monitor is a strange beast. It's a shame I haven't been getting my reports for the past week. But when I refreshed the option, the e-mail I got on 31 May 02h00, showed I had 857MB left. Which I know to be untrue cause I finished my cap on the morning of 30 May. The bandwidth monitor was showing the same info last night. I then reboot the router and lo and behold, when I went to the bandwidth monitor it showed I had nothing left. This didn't surprise me too much as the 857MB was how much I had left when I last disconnected on Sunday.

What is strange is that I will go days without disconnecting, yet the email reports will show my bandwidth decreasing by amounts close to what I would expect.

Go figure.
 
strange last nite around 12am I got dced automatically... my bw shows I have full 3gigs atm :D

There definitely seems to be a daily batch process that updates everyone's bandwidth. It would make sense that this occurs at 2am each morning to coincide with the bandwidth report emails.
 
But the internet monitor doesnt seem to reflect this.. mine is always the same for about a week when I dont get disconnected..

pretty irritating, but I know where i stand usually.
 
I also noticed that my BW reports stay the same unless I logoff and change to another IP.

Awhile back I went through almost a whole month on the same IP and my BW reports stayed the same all the way until I changed IP.
 
Funny, I never log off, and I've not had this problem to date.

/me touches wood, throws some salt over left shoulder, does little rain dance...

Yeah that's what I was getting at. The email reports are pretty accurate even when I don't disconnect. Yet going to the website will reflect usage at the last time I disconnected. You would think both process would be driven off the same database.

Hmmm, thats weird as my email BW reports stay the same until I change IP and from what you say your email reports are accurate.

From that it seems it is not the same for all the iBurst users which does not make much sense if we are all on the same BW monitor system.:confused:
 
Something that I didn't get across very well is that a lot of these are observations which have not been meticously checked. I will though this month make a better effort of reconciling the bandwidth report with the site bandwidth monitor.
 
I dont even get the bandwidth report, I simply hop over to the website evry few days to see if anything has been updated, but even if it has, I dont kow when that update occured, it could be showing me a few day old update.

So I just use it for a rough estimate, still much beter than being discconected evry night at 12pm like on ADSL. That would irritate me, I am often surfing or downloading at that time and if it cut off ever night....
