if a provider suddenly stops charging you per month but your service continues (ie. glitch in their system), what happens if they catch on and charge you the accumulation of all those months all in one bill...

anyone seen anything like this? is that even legal?

Business basics : if you use somebody's service, a service that people pay for, then you are natrually expected to pay for it.

Now ... if you have previously paid for the service, then you already know about how much they charge and how it works, which just makes your case worse.

If you for one minute think a judge will allow you to steal a service then you are in the wrong country.

unless they expressly state they will not do this, then I suspect they can.
Rule #1 in this regard - if you are not getting charged, query it.

OT:
Rule #2: reverse the positions, and ask yourself what YOU would do - be honest with yourself. In fact, this rule pertains to everything in life - I suggest everyone try it from time to time and you may be surprised as to how your understanding of other's actions improves.

rofl. it's the myadsl christian masters. either that or you're just jealous :pp

it hasn't happened to me... you think i'm stupid enough to post it here if it pertained to me?

please, i don't need to be reprimanded, kthxbi.

People like you should not be allowed to ask questions :D

Sometimes it depends on the ISP and how lenient they are, alot of companies use automated billing, which may at times skip a few months ,give it a couple of months and you may well see a huge bill.

I am not a legal advisor - but unfortunately as I have been there (with water and electricity payments) - it is your responsibility to check that you pay. In the event of getting a huge bill, you can ask to pay it over x months (for the months not paid)...

What happens if when you cancelled the contract, you explicitly asked them if it was cancelled and they confirmed that you're no longer a subscriber? I have the reference number for the recorded conversation pertaining to this.

My contract wasn't through the service provider themselves but rather one of their authorised resellers.

If you got the service, and used it - then you should pay for it. .. Imagine going to a shop, picking up a few items and then walking out the shop without being noticed (due to a glitch in the alarm system)
... is that legal?
Its your responsibility to make sure payments go off (trust me... I thought exactly like you, and yes - they did charge me the whole bill in 1 month)

There is no such thing as a free lunch

I assume you're talking about iBurst. This happens on a regular basis.

happened to me with something else. I assumed the debit orders were going off. They werent and then they decided to just send them all through in one shot (4 at once). Needless to say, I was unprepared and 2 of them were rejected (IF). All I would ask is that they friqn let you know they are gonna send > 1 debit order through (if this was to happen, ie unlike standard months) but no.. although an unrelated SP did actually call and say they will double debit so ja..
tip: just keep a few thousand in your accounts all the time :D
