A family member of mine lives in a more rural area, and runs a small office from her home. She needs always on internet access, but Telkom does not support ADSL in her area (still!!!), and the leased line option is just a little to expensive for what you get.

After a little research I found that Telkom is offering a Sat product, while the rental seems excessive, its faster than the leased line option, and less dependant on a line.

Information can be found here: http://www.antitrust.co.za/telkomsat.doc

Doesn'y MWeb also offer a Sat product?
WorldOnline (who became Tiscali) used to, so I would asume that MWEB does.

we had this a few years back. speed was amasing. still have a screen shot somewhere doing a 3mb/s download.

sentech has VSAT solutions but it is also rather pricey. Does she perhaps have GPRS coverage?

SAT products are NOT a solution, it is extremly expensive. Shurley there is 3G coverage, i mean can she use a cellphone?
That is fast, but also rather expensive.

If she wants to pay for SAT... i geuss she could.
