Life 'not a gas' for poor: Another rippoff?

Not me! I will never do that! But it seems to me someone A LA Telkom worked a nice scheme to catch these poor guys. It will never end! Mossgass must have sponsered the "Free" stoves I presume! Recover cost in how many days?
 
This could be nasty when shacks go up in flames imagine dodging a exploding tank flaying at you. then again i'm sure it does not explode as easily i hope.. So why did the price go up ? increase demand or production cost?

There is an informal agreement between Eskom and Mossgas to cap the price per litre of gas to R2, which is far below the current R10-R20 selling price. If resellers keep to this pricing structure than there will be savings for those switching from 2 plate stoves.
What is disturbing is that gas is produced as a byproduct from refining oil, so the cost to the suppliers is simply bottling it! (somewhere less than 50c per litre) Not surprisingly there are no government regulations regarding the markup allowed :(

Well if it's true then that confirms my fears uttered below!
 
if you want to boil a litre of water, go buy a kettle. afaik they are still electric.

the article mentions price comparisons to boiling a litre of water on the new fangled gas stoves.
not a true comparison, as it is not the right tool for the job.

not saying it isnt more expensive, but they should compare the costs of cooking a meal on each, or similar.

i am sure you could write a pretty good story on how expensive it is to boil water on a stove compared to using a kettle.

Why not? Just cut it in pieces! And you can use the iron to make sandwiches!
