FNB Platinum - No free SLOW lounge access anymore?

Did anyone else just get an email from FNB telling them that from now, even if you meet the qualifying criteria, you will be paying R250 to access a SLOW lounge at an airport?

Didnt it used to be free if you met the qualifying criteria?

Yet another platinum benefit down the drain it seems. First the "Premier" banking centre, now this.

No, that isnt even enough. Even with that, you still need to pay R250. Look at it again. It says those are the qualifying criteria, but then look at the column "Fees when qualifying criteria are met". Its NEVER free anymore.
 
This is only for the international slow lounge at ORTIA. On a side note, I have noticed FNB card holders being told to come back later at ORTIA as the lounge was too full.
 
Oh right.

So the ORTIA lounge is R250 for Platinum customers, or free for private client customers?
 
as a platinum account holder I'm outraged that this facility I never used is now not free anymore! IMMAGONNALOSEMYSHIIIIT!
 
FML. Flew out twice last week, completely forgot my Platinum card benefits :( Expensive Fego coffee FTL.

I've never used it myself either, but it looks like FNB is cutting back on a lot of their customer's benefits - maybe to make up for their tablet and other non-banking product sales???
 
I think with the slow lounge, there are too many FNB customers trying to use it to the irritation of the BA customers. In the afternoons, there is often very little space in the ORTIA lounge and as a BA card holder, this gets a bit irritating sometimes.

It's two different things. Access to domestic SLOW lounges was always only for domestic flights and is free if you meet the criteria. This access to the international jobbie is new and at a reduced rate as described.

Lol. So your freebie is more important than my freebie? If I was BA I'd prioritse the FNB customers as they are the only ones who actually pay anything. I often use the lounges for a coffee and check my emails and my statement reflects a R250 payment.

How much do BA customers pay for wolfing down the noodles and sandwiches :)
 
As far as I can recall only the local flight SLOW lounges were free for Platinum card holders.

Platinum card holders never had access to the international SLOW lounge...the email is saying that we as platinum card holders now have access to the platinum lounge. This is a good thing no? I don't see why people are so upset :/
 
As an FNB Platinum Cheque or Credit Cardholder, you are eligible for exclusive access to SLOW International from now until the 31st January 2013
