Best dentist in South Africa?

Hi guys,

Don't know if it's just me, but I find that dentists are very difficult to gauge. The only thing that seems to help is word of mouth... my current dentist is rather 'fancy' and has an awesome looking studio (charges quite a bit), but I'm dissatisfied with 90% of the work done so far.

I'm getting over going back again and again for adjustments, the tooth worked on feels like its going to explode from the inside and somehow I feel like its my fault based on the tone taken with me.

What I need is a serious dentist who pays real attention to detail, the very best this country has to offer.

If there's anyone out there that knows of such a dentist, please let me know, I'd hugely appreciate it.

just the very best that you know, preferably jhb/pta, but i am willing to travel if it means thee best.

Good bed side manner, very accommodating of patients with a low pain threshold such as myself. :p , submits claims direct to medical aid, has a very courteous and professional reception.

I only use the dental hygienist, but she does everything you said and treats me like a friend :D

Tried others but they don't compare to her

A dentist with a studio??? What is he - an artist ?

Try Dr Polson at the Randburg Dental Centre - she is very good at her job and gentle with patients who are scared of "the dentist's chair."
 
Need a dental hygenist asap aswell, any recommendations and whats the going rate to get my teeth cleaned. Coffee and coke have taken there toll on my pearly whites :o

I pay mine R380 for the full clean (Medical Aid pays for it anyway)

Dont see how coke takes a toll on your teeth unless you not rinsing your teeth with water after you drink/eat something and not flossing

Drinking coke/milo here and my teeth stay white, I only have problem with plaque inbetween my teeth over a few months if I am not constantly flossing twice a day, since I have too much saliva :D.

Going for expensive, or fancy, generally gets you ****.

Find an old Jewish guy or something with a cheap private practice.
