Telkom prices drop but will ISP's follow

When i heard that Telkom dropped its ADSL prices i was over the moon...well just for a couple of seconds (Would have liked a bigger price drop) :p

But IMO i still think our bandwidth is over priced. A 1gig should cost about R10 and not more.
Do u guys think or know if the ISP's will lowerthere prices?

DUDE if telkom dropped international bandwith access to SAT-3 cable then they could, icasa have said to them to drop price and to do so for consumers, they said nothing for wholesalers. This is where the issue comes in.
 
You've obviously bought into the Telkom lie that ISPs control bandwidth pricing. They dont Telkom does.

Not your fault, now you know the truth.

Only the price of line rental has dropped so no ISP is gonna drop their bandwidth prices.
 
even if bandwidth prices drop, no ISP will drop by the same ammount. These guys are a business and will need to make money. So they might drop by a percentage but not 100%
 
I emailed SAOL and asked them what the story is : "The Telkom price will affect the client's directly in that your ADSL line rental will be cheaper - ISP charges will remain unchanged at this stage. Should Telkom restructure ADSL bandwidth prices then we will be in a position to offer better ADSL rates.
"
 
How can ISP`s drop their prices? ADSL line rental went down marginly, but not BANDWIDTH prices.

Real limited thinking in this post :/ Telkom controls the price of bandwidth, not the ISP.
 
mR Yellow where do you get your figures from?

ISP's cannot drop prices until Telkom gives us better rates..

getting 1GB for R59.40 and trying to make a profit on it is difficult enough as it is.

Didn't they also anounce a 40% drop on international leased circuits? Surely that should cause a drop in the per GB charge for ISP's.

Maybe I'm just being hopefull.
