WikiLeaks and Julian Assange

Whistleblowing website WikiLeaks on Thursday condemned a British threat to raid the Ecuador embassy in London where its founder is holed up as a "hostile and extreme" assault on asylum-seekers. WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, an Australian national, has been in the embassy since June in a bid to avoid extradition to Sweden, where he faces questioning over sex assault claims. The Australian fears Stockholm will turn him over to the United States where he could face espionage and conspiracy charges over revelations by his website. A British Foreign Office spokesman has said police were ready to arrest Assange for breaching the terms of his bail granted in 2010.

Why dont the Russians just object through the normal diplomatic channels or through their embassy ?

If I had some spare cash I would donate it to him. He has done us a huge service by opening up the cans of worms that most governments would like to keep secret from us and this can only lead to better understanding between people.

The Taliban, a radical Islamic militia in Afghanistan, announced its gratitude to Wikileaks for the release and vowed to hunt down those revealed in the documents to be collaborating with the U.S. It appears that they have now made good on that threat.

Khalifa Abdullah, a tribal elder, was removed from his home in Monar village, in Kandahar province’s embattled Arghandab district, by gunmen. He was then executed.
