We are still cheaper than Cell C, says Vodacom and MTN

The Cell C rates are all the time, not bound by time restrictions like the Vodacom and MTN deals.

Lol, do Empty-N and Vodascum really believe in their own poop that much

Give it a year, Vodacom & MTN share holders will be jumping up and down, because of the the magic word Port >> Cell C

the last words on the MTN advert sums up the fallacy of MTN and Vodacom: "Terms and Conditions Apply"

In all honesty there is a case to be made that depending on your over all setup one particular network may be cheaper although the multiple sim card thing tends to be the real way to deal with the problem. However in the greater scheme with 8ta's calling group options I don't think a real case can be sustained for Vodacom or MTN as the most cost effective enterprise solution.

They have nothing to offer so they resort to scare/brainwash the uneducated market. This makes me sick. I got one word for Vodacon & MTN FUSEG!!!

Patel pointed to Vodacom’s prepaid Day-Night Double free airtime promotion, where subscribers can get free on-net calls when recharging with R29 or more during the promotional period.

Wow, I peed in my pants with anticipation and excitement....

Remind me what MTN and Voda data bundles (for adding to phone contract) cost?

I'm hoping mr. Patel reads this thread.

Vodacom’s new chief consumer officer, Phil Patel said that many of Vodacom’s customers experience lower rates than Cell C’s 99c per minute because of the company’s wide range of products targeted at specific market segments.

Patel pointed to Vodacom’s prepaid Day-Night Double free airtime promotion, where subscribers can get free on-net calls when recharging with R29 or more during the promotional period.

We don't want products targeted at specific market segments, or promotions, or terms and conditions, or more promotions. When will you understand this?

Patel told MyBroadband that Cell C is not doing anything radical, as some observers may credit them with, and that many third market entrants (like Cell C) have done exactly the same in many other countries.

Patel explained that because Cell C has to pay fairly high interconnect rates to Vodacom and MTN, and the fact that their customers often roam on Vodacom’s network, the company had no other option other than launch a flat rate to remain competitive.

Who cares if you do not consider Cell C's actions to be radical? Compared to Vodacom and MTN, it's quite radical in the consumers' eyes. Thats what counts. Also, Cell C is doing far more than remaining competitive. Otherwise, why would you even bother justifying your prices? You don't convince the consumer with words that you have a good product. A good product will the do the convincing by itself.

MTN and Vodacom are dragging their name deeper in the dirt by making these statements.

I've been looking around as my contract expires soon, yes cell c and 8ta do have better call rates, but their phone subsidy is not great. I cannot seem to find a package that matches Vodacoms 229 smart package with a Razr cheaper, so perhaps in whole package deals they are cheaper.

Thats just..wow...

Vodascum, instead of employing spin doctors, hows about you put some of that money that you have drained dry from your customers jugular vein over the last 2 decades to good use and employ the marketing dude from Cell C? He is clearly doing a better job than trying to convince people that the more expensive product is better value for money! Cell C just makes it simple, you guys make it complicated and every deal feels like you are trying to shnaai us more.

Top up now with R29 and you get free calls! But only on a second full moon in a month, from 03:17am to 5:39am, so long as it falls on a Sunday. Yes over exaggeration, but justifiable.

... “Straight Up” packages, witch also offer call rates of 99c per minute...

Fail to the editor :D

as for Vodacom and MTN, will see what i do when my contract is up. Time to see who wants my money more and what deal they will give me ;)
