Sad thing is that the pilot project failed, so they rather have no pilots than white pilots.

Why, I'm sure black people can fly planes? Plus they said if no suitable black pilot is found they will hire white pilots, so at the moment, not forever and ever they just training black cadets.
I don't have an issue - my son is considering aeronautical engineering (though he is still in his teen so might change) combined with a pilots license - so I guess he won't work for SAA, not a train smash, its more their loss anyhow.

Maybe they just do not want to fly. Who cares? So they are not interested maybe the government should start to realize it. Same happened with entries to uni for veterinarian services. Not enough black faces were interested but the places could not be filled with whites either.
( yes I know the article is old. With our high school pass rate it could not have sky rocketed in two years.)

SAA report - "White people can no logner become pilots, it's discrimination!" Says the guy who would never become a pilot anyway
That is SAA's decision, move on. Who knows, it could be a saturated market, I haven't ever seen a black pilot any time i've been on a plane
So then its ok for another company to make the other decision? Whites only.

i've just found in my life is that people always cry about people pissing on somebody else's rose garden. a lot of people are being discriminated against, women, smokers, gun owners, pilots, homosexuals. there are too many issues in life so we narrow them down to a few that affect us, like thinsg we enjoy or things that affect us based on race and gender. if it is unfair it will be challenged, but there are ways of working around it.
the company has to make their own decisions, if they want ot shoot themselves in the foot, so be it. that is their choice and the most important thing i feel

i can understand why people see it as descimination, but this affects even fewer people than smokers, and there are other organisations, and it doesn't stop them from owning a private plane or flying

oke.It affects me. My Tax money is used to bail the futters out. And who wants to fly with SAA if you know they rather have the lesser people than the top bunch. SAA is mango as well?
SAA should be sold to a private company.

I don't think SAA will for one second compromise on safety or the quality of the graduated pilot. It appears that you think the skin colour has something to do with flying ability?

Let's say they need 50 new pilots. Let's say of the 50 best candidates, 25 are black and 25 are white. Yes, these are made up numbers purely to prove the logical point. These racist policies now state that white people can't be pilots. Thus, 25 of the best candidates will have to be replaced with 25 who aren't quite as good, so yes, they are compromising to fulfill some bull**** agenda. Even if only 1 of the top 50 was a white guy, he'd also still now have to be replaced with someone not as good based purely on genetic traits. So yes, the quality will go down, even if the change is unnoticeably small, and regardless of whether someone's race has anything to do with flying ability as you put it.
