56kbps dial-up to become a premium Internet access service

So I was one of the 15000 who had internet in 1994.

almost 9 years ago now...

back then, I was conquering the world in Civilization 1, saving it from aliens in X-Com and blowing it up in TIE fighter.

these days, I am breaking 1x1m blocks, hoping to get diamonds and hopelessly trying to compete with caffiene fueled 10 year olds in FPS's

I want my dial-up days back!!!
 
I guess if you're stupid enough to still be on dial up then you deserve what you get.

Friday 7pm until Monday 6:59am for R7!! Wow, brings back the memories.... I downloaded thousands of mp3's over those weekends!

Telkom Internet still allows their subscribers to dial up to a POP using their ADSL credentials... used to make use of it with my laptop when away from the office.... and then 3G broadband pulled into town....

Ironically GSM EDGE is not much faster than 56kbps and oh is it painful when bad cellular coverage areas!
